Santa showed up yesterday, but a Jeep Wrangler he did not leave behind. While it was totally not expected, one can hope, right?
Mike’s totally free Jeep news has posted an exclusive “spyshot”:http://www.jeepnewsnow.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=903 of the new Jeep Wrangler that will be unveiled in January at the Detroit Auto Show.
GM is planning on making a Jeep knockoff. The Hummer H4 is slated to be built on the chassis of the Hummer H3 and will “rival the iconic Wrangler”.
“Hummer plans H4″:http://www.fortwayne.com/mld/journalgazette/business/13430436.htm
With each new Hummer model being more successful than the last, General Motors officials aren?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t likely to stop expanding the brand soon.
Plans are under way for the H4, which is expected to be a strong competitor for Jeep?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s off-road icon, the Wrangler. H4 plans call for a smaller hard-core off-roader. At present GM has not identified which GM chassis will be the donor or which engine will get the call, but the five-cylinder from the H3 is a likely candidate. Robert Lutz, the vice president in charge of products, is rumored to be a strong supporter of the new H4. Lutz is the former head of Jeep, so he should know how to compete against it.
Further down the road, there will likely be a softer side of Hummer for buyers who don?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t want to just climb a mountain but are more comfortable scaling a parking ramp at the mall.
“The CarConnetion”:http://www.thecarconnection.com/Auto_News/Daily_Edition/Daily_Edition_Sept_30-Oct_3_2005.S173.A9375.html has a spy photo of the four-door Wrangler JK “undressing”. It looks hot.
bq. With the auto show season starting up again soon, TCC’s spies are catching more and more new cars and trucks off-guard. Caught undressing here is the new four-door Jeep Wrangler, with a little help from winter winds. You’ll see it officially uncovered soon – the best bet now is the New York auto show – potentially with removeable roof panels to turn the Wrangler into a four-door quasi-convertible. Among the nameplates rumored for the new model? Cherokee.
According to the ARI production “schedule”:http://www.arifleet.com/production.html, the Liberty is scheduled to be placed into production on the 12th of December (this month). There is also a Wrangler and Liberty 65th anniversary editions slated for a February production run.
