No, not speed the drug, or Speed the movie, or even Speed 2 the worst sequel ever invented. My question today is how many of you have bought Wranglers for the sole purpose of taming your lead foot. Purchasing a Wrangler is like deciding to place a governor on your engine. While the Wrangler easily possesses the ability to break any posted speed limits, anyone who has driven one can tell you that once you hit 75 mph, you just know that you are at top speed. The top starts flapping violently and your radio has to be turned all the way up. Trying to have a conversation just isn’t an option.

The Wrangler makes that once in while chance at driving your significant other’s sporty little car just a little more fun. To be able to go zero to 60 in less than 10 seconds so close to the road sometimes is just needed. But, I’ll take the noisy flapping of the top over anything all the time.

LeftlaneNews wonders if the Jeep Commander is a flop? As has been previously mention on other sites, Chrysler has been giving away thousands of dollars to move new Commanders off of the lot. Up to $5500 in fact. While the actual sales goals of Jeep are not public knowledge as of yet, the sales have been slow. According to Jeep dealers, Commanders are beginning to move off of the lot. I think that a lot this has to do with a semi-backlash against SUVs as gas prices rise and concerns over the environment grow larger. The news as of late, would and has hindered the sales of all SUVs, especially the big ones.

According to a recent JD Power survey, all of the American car makers have slipped dramatically in their brand loyalty, except one. That one, of course being Jeep. When you look at the reasons why this has happened to the once proud automakers, it all comes down to updating. It only takes one look at the Ford Taurus to see where the problem lies. For how many years did the Taurus look exactly like it did the year before, and even when it was updated, how new and fresh was it? Especially when compared to the Camry.

One of the things that Jeep has done during it’s successful run, is that it is constantly updating it’s line of product to compete with the foreign automakers. This explains why Jeep’s brand loyalty is amongst the top 5 automakers in brand loyalty. Jeep is constantly updating and revising their vehicles, and while not all Jeep philes like the changes or additions (read: Compass and Patriot), they are at least coming up with fresh ideas.

This is just something that you don’t see from GM or Ford. With them it’s always the same formulaic approach. To them their SUVs were selling wonderfully 10 years ago, so why change anything. To be successful in any industry you must constantly be evolving.

2007 Jeep Wrangler

The four door 2007 Jeep Wrangler will be unveiled in the very near future. With the New York Auto Show almost two weeks away, out anticipation is growing with every minute. This will be the first ever four door Wrangler, and will feature the 3.8 liter gas engine and the 2.8 liter diesel engine (for the Europeans only) like the two door.

The option to be able to carry three friends on a weekend excursion in a Wrangler is truly exciting. We all know that the two back seats in the two door Wranlger are meant for the dog and/or the groceries, not a full size human being. With my being 6′ 6″, I can’t even think of a time when anyone was seated directly behind me in my old Wrangler.

Impact Orange Jeep Wrangler

After spending some more time contemplating the orange Jeep Rubicon, I decided to go over to Jeep.com to build and price one. Here is the picture that doing that gives you. This is the exact jeep that we saw rolling down the Mass Pike. Isn’t it hot?

In case you haven’t realized, orange is my favorite color. The colors for the 2007 Wrangler have not been announced yet, so I can’t say that orange will be an option, but I would be really disappointed if Jeep did not produce an orange variant of the Wrangler this year. But, even if they do not, it will not stop me from my dream of owning a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, even if it does mean that I will have to own a green Jeep.
