In contrast to the Compass, the Patriot isn’t ugly.

Autoblog has a great bit about the wonderful City Man that is pushing the Jeep Compass. I have to say that City Man is somewhat embarassing to us real Jeep owers. I don’t think that it’s going to push Jeep Compasses out the door either.

Jeep’s hip-hop Bobblehead spots for the Compass have been taken out back and shot. Like the Compass they were shilling, the Bobblehead spots were only effective at being crappy. Of course, the replacement may not be any better. Surfing in from foreign markets is ad agency BBDO’s “City Man.” City Man is a jumble of street signs, gas pump nozzles and general urban detritus created by the swirl of wind from a passing Compass.

 

I was reading the review of the 2008 Jeep Patriot over at The Car Connection. While it is a much smaller vehicle, since it is based on the Jeep Compass and Dodge Nitro platforms, it looks a lot like the old Jeep Cherokee. Continue reading »

Here’s an excerpt from the SFGate’s review of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler…

The company has succeeded, up to a point, producing a Wrangler with more room inside. But this is still a vehicle that is at its best off road, and it remains a rough customer in everyday use. So buyers need to reflect on how they’re going to use the Jeep — as a serious tool, or a fashion accessory? — before they commit.

The conventional two-door has been joined by the first four-door Wrangler, called the Unlimited (which should not be confused with the 2006 Unlimited, a stretched two-door). Base prices begin at $18,765 for a Wrangler X with four-wheel drive and run to $28,895 for the Unlimited Rubicon. I tested both versions.
