Pretty lame 1992 Jeep Commercial for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Jeep in a field of flowers, camera slowly pans to the Jeep, fades out and then pops in to a Jeep Cherokee interior and then in slow motion, the airbag pops open. I guess this might have been a big deal in 1992 (maybe?) but it seems kind of lame today…..

I am going to feature some of the cool new Jeep concept cars coming out of Chrysler in the next few posts. They were all featured at the latest Detroit Auto Show (Jan 08) and will likely be trotted out at most of the upcoming international auto shows. In particular Jeep rolled out three very cool and interesting vehicles of which at least one of them looks like it could see the light of day as it is. A small prelude to the upcoming articles are the pictures and profiles below.
First at bat is the Jeep Gladiator, a Jeep Pickup truck (yes a pickup truck) heralding back to previous Jeep pickup trucks of the 1960′s – this is no ‘rehashing’ an old product as new though, it is thoroughly modern, has funky new styling – Jeep Wrangler up front including a modern interior.
The second up is the Jeep Hurricane – this is concept car has a real ‘show-stopping’ look and features to it – kind of looks like a great big Quad (but WAY Cooler!) Feature-wise – let’s just say, independently turning wheels and TWO Hemi engines are real head-turners!
And finally is the Jeep Renegade Concept car – again, another very cool rendition of an already popular Jeep ‘name’. The Jeep Renegade concept car is a fun, environmentally friendly small two door (slightly bigger than a mini-cooper).

Interesting bit of Jeep news, Jeep has created a military version of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited called the J8. Starting with the 2007 Wrangler Unlimited as a base platform, Jeep engineers reinforced the frame to allow greater loads, up to a new maximum of 1,339 Kilograms (2,950 lbs!). Axles, Brakes and Suspension were modified including utilizing leaf-spring suspension in the rear of the vehicle.
According to Jeep, while the J8 was not designed for front line combat it is fully armored and suitable for tasks such as command vehicle, troop/cargo carrier, ambulance, communications vehicle etc.
The Multipurpose Jeep J8 was unveiled at the 2007 Defense Systems and Equipment International military trade show.
Jeep Compass Commercial from 2007. This jeep commercial shows a Jeep Compass driving around the city and as it goes along, the vortex it creates causes city ‘junk’ to be dragged along behind it, gathering size and forming a giant ‘junk person’ that comes alive, and rides the Jeep Compass through the city like a skateboard…..hmmm, I think Jeep ‘missed’ with this one. Target audience obviously younger etc. but, while ‘cool’ effects, I think it misses the essential ‘nature’ of a Jeep. (just my 2 cents)
Geeky guy walks into gas station and grabs a gas tank….then the Jeep commercial flashes to different new optional features (ie speaker in the tailgate)…then it flashes back to the geeky guy and the gas tank, he is huddling at the slurpy machine filling the Jerry can with slurpy – then he walks out and they say ‘Jeep Patriot – 30MPG’ …hmm, not a very imaginitive ad….
