This is a funny Jeep Cherokee Commercial from early 1990′s! ‘This good boy shares everything with the others in his class – visual shows a bespectacled young boy sharing his candy, then ‘bang’ shows a ‘dark looking picture of a Jeep and the voice over says, this bad boy doesn’t’ and then lists all the Jeep characteristics it has that are unique in its class.

This Jeep commercial was recorded in Boston in 2007. It shows a Jeep Liberty driving along on a nice country highway, a male ‘voice over’ comes on and starts to describe the Jeep, suddenly in mid-sentence, the Jeep Liberty on the screen makes a sharp right hand turn, and goes off-road, the announcer is left without anything to say (a bit incredulous actually) and the camera continues on the road without the Jeep Liberty.

Then just as suddenly as it swerved off the road, it came back on in a cloud of dust. The announcer then picks up where he left off, gets a sentence out and then the Jeep swerves off road again, this time the announcer kind of gices an ‘awe man, can you believe this’ type of comment and then they end it.

Wow, that is one ugly ‘non-jeep’! Beijing auto Works (BAW) has just launched the civilian version of it BJ2036 Military off-road vehicle.

BAW B60 - Front

You can tell we are in the early stages of chinese made ‘knock-offs’ of someone else things – just like handbags, cigarette lighters, toys and clothing, this is obviously a copy of something made somewhere else, it just looks too much in some places like a hummer and in other places like a Jeep and in other places, like god only knows what.

BAW B60 - rear

Keep in mind that this vehicle is the descendant of the iconic Beijing Jeep 2023 series that was the result of a joint venture with AMC/Chrysler before being made solely by BAW. The 2023 series of ‘chinese Jeeps’ is still used in many countries around the world alongside widespread use in the Chinese army.

It may be ugly, and yes it works well, and don’t kid yourself and be ‘thankful it isn’t here’ because China is fast becoming the worlds’ third largest producer of Vehicles. We should all see this and worry or cheer – depending on your viewpoint, consumer or worker – because it means that Chinese manufacturers aren’t far off a version that is ‘better, faster, cheaper’. No question about it, China is the ‘Worlds Manufacturer

BAW - B60 - Interior

It comes with a 4 cilinder 2.7 liter engine, a top speed of 150km/h and clocks 0-100km in 23 seconds. Rumor has it that it will cost in the neighborhood of $12,000 so a real ‘bargain’ if you can and want to get your hands on a Chinese made Jeep
