Jeep Commercial, 1995 Grand Cherokee – Water Buffalo

This is a pretty low quality commercial from 1995 showing a Grand Cherokee driving in a wet forest somewhere on a mud road coming face to face with a water buffalo that won’t get out of the way…..stalemate for a minute or two, then slowly, the Jeep Grand Cherokee begins to sink…..lower and lower until it disappears in the mud. The Water Buffalo then gets out the way and after a pause, the Jeep slowly drives up and out of the DEEP mud…cool for its day.

Jeep Urban Ranger – Jeep Commercial

This is a new turn in branding for Jeep marketers and is adding in a more humorous element to their ‘outdoor’ affiliation. In a nutshell, they have created a fictitious character, the ‘Jeep Urban Ranger’ who goes out and interacts with Jeep owners, always with humorous twists. Not really twists to be honest, but simply personifies the common quirks that individually occur in Jeep owners – All of them. all in one person. You can imagine what that is like! Well, don’t imagine it, watch it! Here is the first of many ‘Jeep Urban Ranger’ Commercials!

Jeep Commercial, 1998 Grand Cherokee – Biker and Lady

OK – I think the Jeep folks lost their way on this Jeep Commercial. Granted it is now a decode old, but still, come on, this is an awful commercial – it is the one that says at the end of it “Jeep 5.9LX – the fastest SUV in the world” and features a hard core biker and a pretty woman in a Jeep 5.9LX. The Biker looks like an old viking warrior or something and stops at a cross roads way out in the middle of nowwhere, looks like a desert (the production value of the commercial is really good, just the commercial is bad!) along comes a Jeep 5.9LX – I think it is a Cherokee – and stops right next to the biker, as the Jeep slows and comes to a stop, it clips the mirror of the biker, the biker goes to get mad and the window on the Jeep opens, inside is a pretty ‘soccer mom’ type. they start revving their engines like they are going to race and then the woman in the Jeep reaches out and puts lipstick on the biker, then the light changes to green and she takes off down a dirt trak and leaves the biker behind her on the road. See what I mean. Stupid Jeep Commercial.

Jeep Patriot Commercial – the first ‘wolf’ commercial

This is a great commercial from Jeep for the Patriot. It is the first ‘wolf’ commercial they did and also one of the first times (the first?) they did the “I squish your little head” thing in a Jeep commercial (you know what I am talking about….pretending that you can pick something up, pinching it between your thumb and finger by holding them really close to your eye). This commercial is an outdoor lifestyle commercial for the Jeep Patriot that demonstrates people outside having fun as a group – following a more current positioning theme from Jeep.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Commercial – video game

This is a pretty cool and innovative Jeep Wrangler Commercial – not in the same vein as current ‘eco-friendly’ commercials, but interesting nonetheless – this commercial features the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon as a video game – racing a course through the desert then halfway through the video game morphs into a ‘real life’ jeep driving through the desert. I am trying to figure out if they are trying to target the ‘younger’ driver? or an older driver that is trying to be younger!

Jeep Grand Cherokee Commercial, 1994 – odd one

This is a very different Jeep commercial from 1994 – nothing at all to do with the usual fun loving or nature-type ‘lifestyle’ commercial. This one tries to tie together Jeep with ‘family’…..very strange combination, it is poorly executed as well – presumably their research said that this would work?!?

It depicts a young man in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driving on a country road, then a very short flashback (1 second maybe) to a young boy helping his father on a farm, using an old Jeep to pull something. Then a lot more driving on dirt roads, to show up at the ‘family farm house’ in his brand new Jeep – Momma runs out to meet him and then Poppa…and a long meaningful look into each others eyes….at least in my opinion, WAY off message!

Jeep Commercial, 1991 Jeep Cherokee – Good boy, bad boy

This is a funny Jeep Cherokee Commercial from early 1990′s! ‘This good boy shares everything with the others in his class – visual shows a bespectacled young boy sharing his candy, then ‘bang’ shows a ‘dark looking picture of a Jeep and the voice over says, this bad boy doesn’t’ and then lists all the Jeep characteristics it has that are unique in its class.

Jeep Liberty Commercial 2007 – Can’t stay on the road

This Jeep commercial was recorded in Boston in 2007. It shows a Jeep Liberty driving along on a nice country highway, a male ‘voice over’ comes on and starts to describe the Jeep, suddenly in mid-sentence, the Jeep Liberty on the screen makes a sharp right hand turn, and goes off-road, the announcer is left without anything to say (a bit incredulous actually) and the camera continues on the road without the Jeep Liberty.

Then just as suddenly as it swerved off the road, it came back on in a cloud of dust. The announcer then picks up where he left off, gets a sentence out and then the Jeep swerves off road again, this time the announcer kind of gices an ‘awe man, can you believe this’ type of comment and then they end it.

Jeep Grand Cherokee commercial – 1992, Air/breathe easier, lame

Pretty lame 1992 Jeep Commercial for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Jeep in a field of flowers, camera slowly pans to the Jeep, fades out and then pops in to a Jeep Cherokee interior and then in slow motion, the airbag pops open. I guess this might have been a big deal in 1992 (maybe?) but it seems kind of lame today…..
