The new 4-door variant of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler is becoming very popular. So much so, that the factory is having a hard time keeping up. This is according to Autoweek.

“Demand for the hardtop four-door is much higher than we expected,” said Cynthia Sidoti, Toledo Supplier Park plant manager.

The 2007 four-door Wrangler began arriving in dealerships last September.

In June, Jeep sold 10,952 Wranglers, the best June results ever for the Wrangler, according to Darryl Jackson, Chrysler vice president of U.S. sales.

Dealers say they’ve had a difficult time getting the top-of-the-line Rubicon version of the Wrangler, which is trail-ready and has Chrysler’s MyGIG entertainment and information system that includes navigation.

“The market is overwhelming,” Sidoti said. For 2008, the MyGIG system will be available without the navigation.

The Toledo Supplier Park is closed this week for model changeover. Workers will return July 23 and begin building 2008 models.

This morning we walked out to find out that our Jeep Wrangler Rubicon had been broken into. Yikes! Thankfully, nothing was actually stolen, because we make it a point to not keep anything in the Rubicon that we wouldn’t mind if it was gone. The worst part of all of this was that the amateur thief spent more time messing up the contents of the Wrangler than actually stealing anything.

According to this article on CNBC the sales of the Jeep Patriot are heating up. Of course they are. They are Jeeps, they are simple and somewhat fuel efficient.

If it weren’t for the Jeep brand, would Chrysler still exist? Probably, but it wouldn’t be in very good shape.

A wave of sales of Toledo’s coveted sport utility vehicle nearly prevented Chrysler car and truck overall sales from sinking last month.

The Jeep Wrangler, built at the Toledo Jeep Assembly complex, had a remarkable 93 percent increase in sales last month from the same month last year, at 10,982. Its sales are up for the year 86 percent.

We’ve been moving recently, and that has meant that a lot of cargo has been going into the Rubicon. Unfortunately, Jeep Wranglers were not really meant for use as moving vehicles. The openings to put boxes in don’t exist, at least not without taking a window or two out.

If you plan on moving, I would rent a larger vehicle for fear of scratching one of the windows. Luckily we didn’t scratch any, but a significant chance was there.
