These are really awesome bumpers, besides their great feature set below, I think what makes these Jeep Wrangler replacement bumpers really stand out is their design. These things are designed to make the front and rear end’s of your Jeep wrangler slide off obstacles instead of bashing and pounding down on a flat surface.

Notice the angled corners on the bumpers so you don't slam down on a flat surface but slide off instead.

The new Jeep Renegade concept vehicle is powered by two things. Electricity and a Bluetec diesel engine. Yes, a diesel engine. It’s like an uber-eco hybrid vehicle. Take one part electric motor, and add a motor that can run partly on french fry oil.

See this video for more on the Jeep Renegade concept:

My hope though, is that Chrysler has ambitions to utilize the Bluetec engine in more vehicles, of course my primary hope is that they would introduce it into the Wrangler. Seeing it in the Renegade concept is hopeful, but probably not realistic.

We are seeing more and more manufacturers in the US committing to diesel, so one can only hold out that at some point the Wrangler will get it’s diesel badge in the States.

Hummer HX On a MountainLook familiar? It’s the Wrangler’s ugly cousin.Today, the media embargo on the new Hummer HX has been lifted, and we can all look at the pile of crap that GM has come up with. Basically take the square stylings that are on every GM vehicle and mix in the [Jeep Hurricane concept](http://seriouswheels.com/cars/top-2005-Jeep-Hurricane-Concept.htm “Jeep Hurricane concept”) and you get the Hummer HX. It’s obvious how much GM lacks in creativity simply by looking at the name. HX? Look a little close to JK? TJ? YJ? CJ?

Of course, a lot of this can be attributed to the fact that at one time Jeep and Hummer were siblings of American Motors.

So yes, the Jeep Wrangler is related to the [Pacer](http://www.channel4.com/4car/media/features/2005/crap-cars/03-large/1975-amc-pacer.jpg “AMC Pacer”) in some bastardized way.

Hummer HX Seven Slot GrilleIt’s even got the seven slot grille. The new Hummer HX stays true to the original seven slot grille that is on every Jeep and Hummer vehicle. Yet, one more thing that these kissing cousins share with each other.

A lot of Hummer fans have seen how closely it is designed to the Jeep. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, GM is really a fan of the whole of Jeep’s lineup.

Hopefully this added competition to the Wrangler, and the rest of the Jeeps will bring about better vehicles overall from Jeep.

But remember, this Hummer HX is just a concept. A thought, or a possibility. Not an actuality. It will be interesting to follow along as this saga progresses.

The 2007 Jeep Wrangler has set a new sales record for Jeep. The Wrangler held the record previously, but the new JK model smashed that.

> Overall Jeep brand sales declined 3 percent based on planned fleet reductions. Jeep Wrangler sales were up 4 percent for the month with 9,007 units versus 8,623 units for December 2006. With 119,243 units sold in 2007, Jeep Wrangler sales surpassed 100,000 units with an all-time sales record, versus 80,271 sold in 2006, up 49 percent.

> “We’re thankful to our customers for the response they’ve shown to our products,” Steven Landry, Executive Vice President — North American Sales, said. “Jeep Wrangler is one example with an all-time sales record for the year that surpasses 100,000 units. With new models, bold designs and fuel efficient alternatives, we’re excited about the products like the Dodge Journey, Challenger and Ram, and the launch of two new SUV hybrids — the Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango — and believe we’re well positioned for 2008.”

Dear Jeep,

There’s nothing more exciting than the thought of a diesel Wrangler filling our parking space outside. This new model of Wrangler would help save the environment a little, by burning clean diesel fuel. It would save us money by getting more than 16 miles to the gallon.

So, what do you say? Do you think that in the next year or so, you could come up with a new diesel edition of the Jeep Wrangler. The 2009 model year would be great.

Thanks!
