Fall Foliage, In a Jeep

There’s nothing quite like taking a ride through nature during the peak of fall foliage season. In Boston, we traverse to mid-New Hampshire or Vermont. It’s best when the top is down, the sun is out and you have on your sweatshirt.

If you don’t have a Jeep, you can rent one for a couple days in certain places for the sole purpose of going on foliage tours.

>The “Manistee Adventure” gets on the road — or rather off the road — Sept. 29-30 and Oct. 6-7, 13-14 and 20-21. It is priced at $250 per adult — with a minimum of two adults per Jeep — including the Jeep rental, one night’s accommodations, dinner, continental breakfast and leadership. Accompanied by two adults, children 10 and under are priced at $150 each. Tax is extra, and snacks and lunches are BYO. Offered by Sandy Korners Adventure Tours, the caravan leaves from and returns to Mears, Mich., 45 minutes south of Ludington. (231-873-5048; www.sandykorners.com/manisteeadventure .html)
