SRT Diesel?

Over on Diesel Forecast, there is an article which makes it seem as though there could possibly be a diesel SRT in the future for Jeep. Of course, I wouldn’t think that an SRT Wrangler will be hitting the streets anytime soon. I have never put SRT and Off Road together in the same thought, being that most of Daimler’s SRT variants come with low profile wheels.

Hot SRT diesel models are possible in future for Chrysler and Dodge according to Michael Accavitti, Director of SRT Product Planning and Marketing.

So far DaimlerChrysler’s Street and Racing Technology department is best known for high-performance versions of muscle cars such as the 425hp 6.1-litre V8 Chrysler 300C SRT8 and Dodge Charger SRT8. Nevertheless, Accavitti told DieselForecast: “SRT doesn’t have to be a gas V8. We’ve produced the SRT4 (based on the four-cylinder Dodge Caliber) and we’re looking for opportunities in the future for all sorts of engines.

I own (among other jeeps) an 86 TJ with a 2.1 turbo diesel (now defunct) would be very interested in a replacement diesel with real power.
